Abstract

238,977. Klein, G. June 6, 1924. Sliding - window opening and closing apparatus; sashes balanced by springs. -An operative device for sliding sashes, particularly the heavy sashes of vehicles which are counterbalanced as described in Specification 209,410, comprises a handle i and pinion k geared to one of the meshed segments l connected to the levers b by which the window is supported. A self-sustaining locking device, as shown in Specification 201,909, is connected to the handle. The bottom of the sash carries a hinged flap o which in the raised position is guided into contact with the weather-rail p by side strips s. In any open position the strip n is held, as shown in Fig. 3, by two U- shaped members r. The cylindrical part of the strip o is engaged by a felt packing strip q. The levers b have rollers engaging slotted cages in the sash.
