Abstract
17,914. Holland, W. H. Aug. 6. Vehicle windows; sliding sashes in one plane; sliding doors.-One or more sliding sashes, doors, or panels are mounted in a frame provided with carriers sliding in a direction at right-angles to the sliding sashes &c., so that the sashes &c., which lie in the same plane, or in the same plane as a fixed panel, when closed, may be opened one behind another or behind the fixed panel. In the arrangement shown, the top and bottom bars of a vehicle window frame D are provided with the carriers F, the sashes 1, 2, 3 being slidable in suitable grooves A, B, C, in the frame and carriers. To move the sash 2, the carriers are moved into the position shown in Fig. 2, whereupon the sash 2 may be slidden in the grooves B behind either of the sashes 1, 3. In a similar manner any sash can be moved to occupy a position in either of the grooves A., B, C. The carriers are operated by crank-pins g mounted on rotatable disks G, G<1> and engaging slot, in the carriers; and pins g<1> on the disks G, G<1> , engage fixed stop pins g<2>, g<3> when the carriers are in the positions in which their outer grouves A register with the inner grooves B, C respectively in the window frame. The disks G, G' are operated by wires &c. H passing around pulleys K connected to the disks G, G', the wires being actuated by a suitable handle J and provided with an adjustable link L.
