Abstract

28,756. Chaddock, G. A. Dec. 20. Horizontally and vertically pivoted sashes, in combination, opened and closed simultaneously. -Relates particularly to windows of the kind described in Specification 25,063/06 consisting of a vertically pivoted sash 7 and a horizontally pivoted sash 2 mounted in a vertically sliding frame 1, the sashes 2, 7, opening simultaneously when the frame 1 is raised by means of the sleeve or nut 3 and a screw 4, which is operated through bevel-gearing from the handle 6. The screw 4 is carried by a frame comprising plates 12, 13 spaced apart vertically and projecting laterally in opposite directions; the head 5 of the window frame is formed with an aperture through which the plate 13 can be passed, the plate 12 being secured to the underside of the head 5. The helical guide 9, of the form described in Specification 21,740/02, is secured to the sill by a plate 18, which is formed with one or more ribs 19 to strengthen the attachment and prevent access of moisture to the sill beneath the plate 18.
