Casements; fan-lights; frames.-A combined casement and fan-light window is made of anglesteel or iron, the central bar 28 of the frame being of T-section and having a wide cover-plate secured to the stem on the outside. Means are provided for fastening the casements in the closed position, consisting of bars 54 slidably mounted on the edge of the casements and operated by the handles 50 and having lugs 56 adapted to engage brackets 57 on the frame. Spring washers are mounted on the bottom pivots between sash and frame. Stops 70 are provided on the fan-light sash to limit its opening, and projections are provided on the hinges of the casement to prevent one casement being opened back against the other. The bottom sashes of the casements are provided with downwardly inclined extension pieces, the sill being suitably bevelled, and the bottom member of the fan-light has a depending flange 73 extending outside the transoms when closed. The sill may be of H or solid square section, a channel and drainage holes being provided if desired.
