Abstract
23,119. Ashlock, H. H. Oct. 19, 1910, [Convention date]. Gates.-Collapsible window guards consist of pickets 1 connected by pivoted links 8, the links of each series being interposed between the pickets to which they are attached so that, when closed, the links are completely housed between the pickets. The pickets to which the lower ends of the links are attached are bent at the corners 9, as shown in Fig. 2, to form a stop for the links and prevent the guard from opening too far. The end picket may be secured to the window jamb by hinges 2. To prevent wear of the window sill, a channelled plate 10 is secured thereto as shown in Fig. 1. The guard is secured by means of a plate 11 carried by the window frame and provided with lugs 12, 13. A projection 4, Fig. 5, mounted on the end picket engages with the lug 12, and a padlock is passed through the lug 13 and a third lug 6 on the gate, as shown in Fig. 7.
