Abstract

263,406. Roberts, A. June 22, 1926. Fanlight and pivoted-window open- and closing apparatus.-The casing 5 of a pinion-and-rack operating mechanism for fanlight and like windows is pivoted on the pinion 4 and provided with rollers 8 which maintain engagement between the rack and pinion. The two parts of the casing 5 are adapted to be bolted together around the pinion and shaft 1. The shaft may be mounted in ball-bearing brackets on the frame and is operated by a chain and pulley through worm gearing or the like. A counterbalancing device is preferably provided consisting of a snail cam 16 carrying a cord and weight 15, 14.
