Abstract

540,916. Door-operating appliances. KING, Ltd., G. W., and KING, D. M. May 4, 1940, No 8038. [Class 65 (i)] [Also in Group X] A sliding and folding door comprises leaves 11 inter-connected by vertical hinges, the leaf at each extremity being hingedly connected at 11a to a rigid supporting member or mullion 12 mounted on wheels 13 running in a track 14, each mullion being of such a width (longitudinally of the door) as to maintain its vertical position. and to constrain the hinged leaves against tilting in the longitudinal direction of the door. In the opened position, at the right of Fig. 1, the mullions cover, to some extent, the folded leaves. The upper end of each mullion is fitted with one or more rollers 15 running in a guide channel 16, and guide rollers 42 may be provided at the top of each leaf which, at the bottom end, has a roller 20 carried in a pivotally mounted bracket and running on a track 19, the roller mounting being preferably of the kind described in Specification 532,347. Each supporting wheel 13 is driven by a reversible electric motor 25 through suitable gearing, a squared end 41 of a shaft 31 being adapted for the attachment of a handoperated crank.
