Abstract
190,561. Niblock, F. Oct. 1, 1921. Surface carburettors.-In a carburettor, for use in connection with internal-combustion engines, of the type wherein absorbent material surrounds the intake passage, the absorbent material comprises a porous tube 5 of unglazed porcelain or earthenware which is clamped between the choke tube 3 and a screwed cap 2. An annular chamber 1 surrounding the porous tube 5 is formed integrally with a choke tube and contains liquid fuel supplied from a float chamber through a pipe 4, while a baffle 11 may be fitted in the bore of the porous tube 5 so as to bring the incoming air into closer contact, with the saturated surface of said tube. In order to expose more or less of the tube 5 to the current of air, a thin metal sleeve 8, operated by a lever 9 and spring 10, is slidably mounted in the bore of the cap 2.
