Abstract

169,027. Bamford, J., and Bamford, C. J. June 24, 1920. Spray carburettors. -Carburettors which work normally with paraffin and are started on petrol are provided at the end of the air passage 1 with a priming cup 17 into which petrol can be poured to cover the inlet to said passage, and with an automatic air valve 12 above the inlet, The valve is perforated at 16, is seated on a cap 8<a> secured to the air pipe by a screw 9 and is loaded by an adjustable spring 14. The cup is supported by an adjustable screwed spindle 11 against the head 15 of which the spring 14 bears. The top of the cup is above the air inlets 21 which are larger than the inlets 16 in the valve. The normal fuel supply is through a pipe 2 with control valve 4 having a disc 5 working over a pointer 6. At starting, air passes through the petrol and through the holes 21, 16 but with increased suction, air through the holes 21 will pass also around the valve 12
