Abstract
139,858. Mills, F. A. Feb. 4, 1919. Spray carburettors. - The fuel nozzle 4 is situated in the centre of the float chamber 5 below the fuel level, and is controlled by a needle valve 1 which is attached to the throttle valve 2 and may be constructed as shown in Fig. 4 so as to close the nozzle when the throttle valve is fully open. The valve 4 is adjustably screwed into a transverse pin 3 mounted loosely in the throttle; or it may have a flat head which rests on a spring in the throttle, and be adjusted by a vertical screw which passes out through the top of the casing. The fuel accumulates in the chamber above the nozzle 4 and escapes through a number of vertical holes (not shown) in its cover. At starting, fuel is drawn out of the chamber through a vertical pipe 7 and horizontal passage 8.
