Abstract

Spray carburettors. -In a float-feed device for the vaporizers of internal-combustion engines, the float 5, valve 6, and mounting 3 containing a fuel passage are removable together from the chamber E; the fuel supply pipe is in such a position that the float &c. are removable without disconnecting the pipe. As shown, the mounting is supported on a central supply pipe 2 and may be swung round, so that the axis of oscillation of the float is in any plane with respect to the chamber. A fuel strainer 10 is carried by a perforated block 11, on to which screws the fly-nut for the cover 7; the cover may be attached to the nut, and come off when the nut is lifted. A spring-pressed valve 12 shuts off the fuel supply when the strainer is removed. In a modification, the mounting for the float &c. also forms the cover for the chamber. In another arrangement, the mounting is supported on a pipe placed to one side of the chamber, the strainer being held in place by the supply pipe. In these two arrangements the shut-off valve 12 is not used. A ball may form the float-valve.
