Vaporizers, external.- In a carburettor for internal-combustion engines, hot exhaust gases are led from the engine and supplied to a tank a, provided with water and liquid hydrocarbon, by means of a pipe b and a tubular worm e, the mixture then passing to a spray nozzle, i connected to the induction pipe of the engine. The liquid hydrocarbon and water supplies to the tank a are controlled by float chambers, not shown, and the tank a is also provided with a gauze diaphragm g. If desired, compressed air may also be led to the casing a below the level of the water in addition to the exhaust gases.
