Abstract

188,735. Mann, J. W. Aug. 10, 1921. Reversing-gearing for light motor-cars comprises a transmission sprocket b with dog end b' loose on a driving-shaft a. A sprocket g secured to sprocket b is connected by a chain to a sprocket f loose on a countershaft a<1>. A toothed gear c with dog end c<1> slides on a square end i of the shaft a. A loose gear d with dog end e slides on the shaft a<1>. For forward driving, the dogs c', b<1> are interengaged, while the gear d is clear of the gear c. Reversed driving is produced when the toothed gears are intermeshed, and the dogs e engage dogs e<1> upon the sprocket f.
