Abstract

186,959. British & Foreign Industrials, Ltd., and Cooklin, I. June 3, 1921. Telescopic and expanding tables.-In an extensible table wherein a leaf 10 may occupy a stowed position on slides 2, 3 attached to the ends 1 of the table, the leaf is connected to one end by chains or cords 14, which raise it into position in the table upon separation of the ends by the engagement of an incline on bars 11 on either side of the leaf with a block 12 on the slide attached to the other end of the table. The table may be opened from one end by a screw rod operating in a cross-bar 17 secured to the slides attached to the other end of the table, or by a lazy tongs device consisting of pivoted links 20 as shown in Fig. 3, or from the side by a. lazy tongs device as shown in Fig. 4, fixed to the end of the table and the cross-bar 17, and having its joints on nuts 26 which may be moved laterally by a screw rod 15.
