Abstract

543,836. Stretchers. GOVER, W. C., and MACLEAN, A. A. Dec. 4, 1939, No. 31367. [Class 108 (i)] The legs 7 of an ambulance stretcher are of channel section and are pivoted at 13 to the side bars 5 of the stretcher so that they may be turned up into recesses 15 in the bars as shown in Fig. 5 so as to form handles with the ends of the bars. The legs are of aluminium or other light metal and are locked in either position by a catch 14. The pair of side bars are connected together near each end by jointed stays which hold them apart in position for use and which enables them to be brought together side by side when the stretcher is not in use. Each stay comprises a pair of links pivoted together, one link being extended beyond the pivot and having a slot for engagement with a pin on the other link when the links are in alignment.
