[Class 65 (ii).] Pivoting adjustments.-In a foldable stretcher the sidebars are provided with hinges, the hinge cheeks having on their adjacent sides mutually engageable teeth, the hinge bolt having a pin which holds the teeth out of engagement only so long as its ends bear on opposite inserts of the hinge cheeks and the hinge bolt having end discs one of which is provided with projections adapted to enter recesses on the hinge cheeks to permit the latter to move out of teeth engagement. The hinge cheeks 1, 2 of the longitudinal bars 20, 21, 22 are provided with interengaging teeth 3 as shown and with a hinge bolt 5 having fixed thereon discs 6, 7 spaced somewhat apart from the cheeks to permit separation of the cheeks. Projections 9 on the bolt prevent separation of the teeth 3 until the bolt is rotated to permit the projections to enter lateral recesses 10 in the cheek 1 when the teeth may be separated and the bars 20 ... 22 moved about the hinge. The cheeks are moved apart automatically by springs or by a pin 14 fixed to the bolt and engaging opposite inserts 16 on the cheeks. Handles 28 and feet 25 are kept in position by similar means, or projecting pins 32, Fig. 9, on the handles 28 may be engaged with recesses 34, 35 in a cross-piece 33, the pins being mounted on springs 30 and released by pushbuttons 31.
