Abstract

Vices.-A pipe or like vice of the kind comprising a fixed lower jaw as a and a sliding upper jaw b<2>, mounted in a pivoted upper part b of inverted- U formation, which can be held in a fixed position when desired, is constructed with removable pivots c at each side which can both be made to engage recesses in the limbs of the part b when the part is to be locked in position, or the part b can be pivoted about either pivot c by removing the other one. The pivot pins c are mounted so that they can be removed from the recesses in the part b, but can not be entirely removed from the vice, grub-screws a<4> engaging grooves in the pin c for this purpose. The limbs of the port b are formed with projections b<7> which rest on lugs a' on the base of the lower jaw when the pins c are being inserted.
