Abstract

219,870. Hacheney, F. C. Dec. 18, 1923. Pivoted and sliding jaw wrenches; jaw faces; handles.-In wrenches of the type comprising a fixed jaw 12 carried by a shank 10 provided with a slot 14 whereby a movable jaw member 15 is slidably and pivotally mounted thereon, the pivotal movement of the member 15 is limited by means of a bar 20 pivoted, as by a pin 21, in a slot 22 in the member 15 and movable through the slot and out of alignment with the shank 10. The slot 14 preferably consists of holes 13 connected by slots, the member 15 being of channelled form and carrying a flat sided pivot pin 18 adjustable from hole to hole when the bar 20 is moved out of alignment. A projection on the end of the member 15 co-operates with grooves 23 formed in the face of the shank 10 to facilitate positioning the pivot in a hole. The jaws may be inclined at different angles, and the end of the shank 10 may be formed as a ring 11.
