Pivoted and sliding jaw wrenches.-A wrench of the kind comprising a handle terminating in a head which is formed with a fixed jaw and is slotted substantially at right angles to the handle to receive the shank of the sliding jaw, the jaw being locked in adjusted position by a pin passing through the head into one of a series of holes in the shank, is provided with locking means, known in a different kind of wrench consisting of slots connecting the series of holes and a pin having a flat part by which it may pass through the slots. The shank 14, Fig. 3, of the sliding jaw 12 slides in a slot 13 in the head 11 which is carried by the handle 10 and is formed with an inclined jaw face 25. The shank 14 has a series of holes 15 connected bv slots 20 and a locking pin 17, Fig. 4, has a round part to fit the holes 15 and a flat part 19 adapted to pass through the slots 20. A spring, arranged between the fixed or removable cupshaped head 21 on the pin and the adjacent face of the head 11, holds the pin normally in locking position. In a modification, Fig. 8, the fixed jaw 26 has plain and serrated gripping surfaces on opposite sides, and the' sliding jaw 12a is reversible in the slot 13<a> so as to co-operate with either face for operating nuts or pipes.
