Abstract

424,907. Parallel rulers. LUARD, W. B., 14, Woodlane, Falmouth. Oct. 30, 1933, No. 30071. [Class 97 (iii)] The linkage which permits two rulers to be moved apart while retaining their parallel relationship is connected with the rulers through slides and guides so that the rulers may move longitudinally while remaining the same distance apart and parallel. As shown, two sets of lazy tongs 10, 12, interconnected by crossed links 15 which ensure that they open to equal extents are pivoted at their ends 9 to slide blocks 7. The latter are free to slide, for example in the slots 6, on metal strips 4 screwed to the rulers 1. The rulers may be maintained in the closed position by clips.
