` UNITED sTATEs PATENT oEEicE.
ANDREW KALIiIO, OF SOUTH RANGE, MICHIGAN.
FOLDING BED.
ySpecificatitm of Letters Patent.J
`Application filed November 18, 1913. Serial No. 801,634.
To-aZZ Iwhom, it may concern Be it known that I, .ANDREW KALLIO, a
citizen of t-he United States, residing at- South Range, in the county of Houghton and State of Michigan, have invented cer. tain new'and useful Improvements in Foldspace and used asa table or stand.
A secondary object is to provide a simple and efhcient means for pivotally connecting the ends of the lazy-tong links and lfor supporting the same. p
With these objects in view, the invention resides in lcertain novel ,features of constructiony andv combination herein `described and claimed and shown on the drawings wherein Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved bed in open position. Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the same folded and in the form of a table. Fig. 3 is an end view in folded position, and Figs. 4 and 5 are detail vertical .sections through the upper and lower connecting brackets of the lazy-tong structure.
Inthe drawings, I `have shown my improved bed as comprisingr 'in general, lazytong side members 1 and a spring 2 supported thereon.
Coming now more particularly to details, the outer links 3 of the lazy-tong structures are 'pivoted aty their centers as at 4 to the inner links 5, said inner links 5 being connected by upper and lower rods 6 and 7, thev upper rods 6 being braced as at 8 to the links 5. The upper and lower ends of the links 3 project into sockets 9 and vl() in upper and lower brackets 11 and 12. These brackets 411 and 12 lare provided on' theirinner sides with spaced `lugs 13 between which f and said inner sides `of the brackets 11 and 12, project the upper and lower ends of the inner links 5. Pivot bolts 14 are then passed through the socketedy ends ofthe rackets 11 and 12, 'through the upper vand lower terminals of the bars and 5 through the lugs 13 and receive nuts 13.
l Revolubly mounted between depending ears 15 carriedby the lower brackets 12, are a plurality of rollers 16, while the upper brackets 1'1- carry knobs or buttons 17 by means of which the spring^2 is attached.
The upper portions of the end bars 3, at one extremity of the members 1, and the end bars 5 at the opposite extremity thereof are provided with connecting. boards 18 and '19 rigidly vsecured at their opposite ends to the above mentioned members. Connected to the inner ycorners of the boards 18 and 19 by Ihinges 21 and 22 respectively `are head and foot boards 23 and 24 which are adapted to be swung inwardly and rest upon the knobs 17 of the castings 11 and form a table top when the side membersy 1 are in folded,`
posit-ion.
By Athis construct-ion, it will be seen thatI have produced va very simple, strong, and

eiiclient folding bed with comparatively few moving parts, and which may be foldedinto a very small compass when not iniuse.
Although I have described my invention with considerable minuteness, I do not wish tobe unduly limited to details, other than those set forth in the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is z- In a device of the character described, the 4 the two series of bars and the spaced lugs,
whereby the terminals of the inner bars are pivoted to said brackets and said brackets are rigidly secured on said outer bars.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ANDREW KALLIO.
