Magneto electric machines; pole - pieces, cores, and yokes. - The pole-pieces of small dynamo-electric machines are built up of shaped laminations which are located by dowel or peg connections and secured by bolts or the like connecting the end pieces and not passing through the pole-pieces. Fig. 1 shows pole-pieces a held in position by pegs, rivets or screws b, and the end pieces c are connected by bolts d. In the case of a magneto the permanent magnets e may be fitted into dovetailed recesses in the polepieces as shown in Fig. 2. In a modification the magnets simply abut against the pole-pieces and are fixed by a metal strap.
