Abstract
325,599. Rotax (Motor Accessories), Ltd., and MacFarlane, J. E. Nov. 24, 1928. Exciting; field magnets.-In a dynamo of the type having each pole divided into two parts of the same polarity and adapted to give constant volts with varying load, one part of each pole has a series winding in addition to the shunt winding and each bifid pole has a shoe joining the two pole parts so arranged as to make a good magnetic joint with one and to be separated by an air-gap or its equivalent from the other part which carries the series winding. In the twopole machine shown, each pole consists of two parts a, b given a common polarity by means of a shunt coil c and joined by a pole-shoe d. The shoe joints with the parts a, b respectively are made by means of magnetic and non-magnetic insertions e, f, the non-magnetic gap being provided on the leading pole part b which carries the series coil g.
