Abstract

173,747. Grandjean, M. Jan. 7, 1921. Paper-supports.-In a stenographic or like machine, employing a platen roller which is rotated automatically at each operation of the keys, the platen roller can be turned upwards about a transverse axis at one end, to facilitate introduction of the paper, and is provided with a driving-member. Preferably, the shaft 1 of the platen roller 8 is provided at one end with a transverse pivot 2 mounted in bearings 3, and is retained at the other end by a catch 5. Upon release of the catch, the platen roller is turned upwards by a spring 7, and the paper can be readily placed on the feed-rollers 12. The platen roller is loose on the shaft and is provided with a ratchet-wheel 10 co-operating with driving- mechanism.
