241,783. Ming, H. E., and Aspinall, D. A. Feb. 18, 1925. Platen presses.-A platen press is constructed with a vertical type chase 3 secured on a stationary flat drum 2, and a rocking platen 7 operated by a cam 22 which presses directly on to the back of the platen, and closes it, to print, against the action of a spring 12. Inking-apparatus.-The drum 1 acts as an inkdistributing drum, and supplies travelling rollers 17 mounted in spring-controlled rods 15 capable of sliding in a bracket 13 mounted on a rotating shaft 4. The shaft 4 is driven by chain or other gearing from the shaft 10 of the cam 22, and this shaft is rotated by a hand-crank or by a motor.
