Abstract

491,971. Typewriters. EVANS, O. (Olympia Buromaschinenwerhe Akt.-Ges.) March 16, 1937, No. 7715. Addition to 466,791. [Class 100 (iv)] Relay type-lever actions. - The revoluble pressurecam co-operating with the type-lever to effect silent impression in the manner described in the parent Specification is replaced by an eccentrically mounted roller or the like which moves out of the path of the type-head, to permit of the latter being moved into proximity to the platen, and then engages the type-lever - or type-head to effect impression. In the arrangement shown in the Figure, a disc 6 on a rotating shaft 5 carries a roller 8 for engaging an eccentric surface 9 on the typelever 1 when the latter has been moved into proximity to the platen 4 by means of keycontrolled relay-mechanism. The parts are so timed that the roller passes above the type-head and then engages the surface 9. The shaft 5 extends across only half of the machine, and therefore does not obscure the printing line.
