Abstract

1,020,939. Typewriters. SPERRY RAND CORPORATION. Dec. 23, 1964 [Jan. 2, 1964], No. 52217/64. Heading B6F. A paper feed mechanism for a typewriter or like business machine comprises a feed roller 51, Fig. 3, mounted rotatably in end supports 59 on a pivot shaft 63 and disposed parallel to platen 27 and having a length substantially the same as the platen the mechanism being further provided with at least one support roller 107, mounted intermediate the length of the feed roller 51 on pivoted support 101, to urge the feed roller against the platen. The supports 59 and 101 are provided with control arms 85, Fig. 4, and 113 coacting with cam flats 83, 115, respectively, formed on a control shaft 81, whereby partial rotation of the shaft results in disengagement of the feed roller 51 from the platen 27. The feed roller 51 and support roller 107 are urged into engagement with the platen by springs 75 and 109, respectively.
