Abstract

Clutches, friction.-A loose ring c consisting of separate segmental blocks is tightened upon a driving-drum A by a coil spring F secured at one end to the driven pulley G and at the other to a loose sliding sleeve D, which has a conical clutch projection d adapted to be passed into a corresponding, recess a<1> in the drum to tighten the coil on the blocks for clutch engagement. The operating lever is connected to a non-rotating ring E having axial freedom on the sleeve D, which is braked directlv bv the conical recess in the ring or through a spring-pressed collar e when the clutch is disengaged, so as to unwind the spring and bring the driven parts to rest.
