Abstract

452,898. Shaft couplings. KEMPER, J., 12, Langestrasse, Neuenkirchen, Wiedenbr³ck, Germany. Dec. 10, 1935, No. 34180. [Class 80 (ii)] A frictional coupling for centrifugal separators comprises a driving pulley 8 with friction facings 9 free mounted on a shaft 1 between disc members 10, 12 which are pressed together by a spring 13. The disc member 10 is secured to the shaft or may form part of it, the plate 12 being capable of axial movement to engage the pulley under the tension of the spring 13 which is manually adjustable by a nut 15 so that the pulley can be pressed gradually into operative engagement with the disc members to gradually take up the drive.
