Abstract

[Class 80 (ii).] A disc clutch is put into engagement at a predetermined speed by wedgeshaped centrifugal masses c coacting with a coned presser plate d, and can thereafter be disengaged by n o n - automatic means. Driving-discs d, h, i are splined to a drum b, which is secured to a flywheel or other driving member a or is formed as a loose belt pulley, discs g being splined to a part f on the driven shaft e. The masses c slide on the end wall of the drum b. The disc i is withdrawable by levers against the action of springs j. In a modification, the shaft e drives, and the masses c slide on a flanged extension of the part f.
