Abstract

422,816. Friction clutches. STANLEY, G. E., 92, Godiva Street, Coventry. Jan. 16, 1934, No. 1566. [Class 80 (ii)] In a friction clutch comprising a driven disc 14 adapted to be clamped between a driving disc 12 and a presser member, the latter is formed of independent sections 17, each section being riveted to the outer end of a radially-arranged spring finger 18, the inner end of which is rigidly secured to the cover 16 attached to the disc 12. The fingers 18 are united to each other at their inner ends by a ring 19 and are initially dished so as lightly to bias the sections 17 away from the driven disc 14. A peg 21 slidable in the cover 16 abuts against each section 17, clutch engagement being normally maintained by springs 29 engaging washers 28 on the pegs, while disengagement is effected by radial levers 23, each of which coacts with a pair of pegs.
