Abstract

1,180,856. Friction clutches. FRANCAISE DU FERODO S.A. 8 Feb., 1968 [10 Feb., 1967], No. 6285/68. Heading F2C. In a friction clutch having a driven plate 13 clamped between a driving flywheel 11 and presser plate 12 by a diaphragm spring 15 fulcrumed between rings 19, 20 encircling studs 18 riveted to a clutch cover 10, the ring 19 is spot-welded to the cover 10 at points intermediate the studs. The ring 20 may be waved or bowed (Fig. 9, not shown) in the axial direction to ensure that it contacts both the heads 26 of the studs 18 and the diaphragm spring 15. The heads 26 of the studs may be elongated circumferentially (F ig. 3, not shown) to provide additional support for the ring 20 and the inner surface of the heads 26 may be grooved to receive the ring 20.
