Abstract

Clutches, friction; yielding clutch plates.-In order to obviate the transmission of engine tremor, the driven disc 9 of a friction clutch is secured to its hub 7 by an interposed rubber &c. cushion 15, which lies symmetrically between a triangular flange 8 on the hub and the triangular wall of a flanged and dished casing 11, secured to the disc 9 and having an aperture 14 to clear the hub. The cushion 15 may be in a single length or in three lengths, as shown in Fig. 1, or may be disposed at the angles only, Fig. 6 (not shown). An asbestos or other heat-insulating washer may be interposed between the parts 9, 11. Fig. 3 shows a modification, in which the cushion-chamber is formed by the triangular hub-flange 19 and a spacing-piece 20 belted between two friction discs 17. Specification 292,992 is referred to.
