Clutches, ratchet.-In coil clutches, sleeves 7<a>. 6<a> secured to the driving and driven pulleys 7, 6 respectively, or to a driving-shaft and pulley, are surrounded by a spring 9 one end of which is free and the other end is secured to a loose collar 8, which may be positively stopped by a pawl 10 on a lever-operated spindle 11 to disengage the clutch.
