Clutches, friction.-The driving-shaft 89 of a paper-winding machine is connected to the driving-pulley 17 by a friction clutch comprising a friction surface 93, carried by a member 94 on the pulley and co-operating with a disc 92<c> which engages a screw 92<a> mounted in a disc 92 secured to the shaft. A worm wheel 91 on the screw engages a worm 90 on a loose sleeve 88 movable longitudinally by a bell-crank 85 which is operated by a hand-lever and engages a pin 85<a> on a collar 86<a> on the sleeve.
