Abstract

171,745. Donisthorpe, H. W. Aug. 11, 1920. Driving-gear. - Driving-mechanism for metal slitting and cutting machines comprises a fastrunning shaft 3 which drives the cutter and, by means of worm gear 10, 5, a sleeve 8 loosely mounted on a shaft 2. The sleeve carries at one end a half-clutch 6 and at the other a worm 4 in gear with a worm wheel 11 on a shaft 1 which actuates the feed-mechanism. The shaft 1 carries a cam 19 which at intervals through a bell crank 17 puts in gear the half clutch 12 to rotate the shaft 2, which actuates a work-holding device.
