Disc wheels, - In disc wheels of the type in which the main part of the tyre carrying rim is permanently secured to a peripheral flange on the disc and the outer rim flange, or sections thereof, are detachably secured by bolts or other means, blocks or projections are provided on the disc flange at the points of attachment of the detachable rim flange. The body of the wheel consists of a disc 1, Fig. 1, secured to a hub or axle in any suitable manner and having a peripheral flange, to which is secured the main part 4 of the tyre carrying rim. Blocks or projections 3 are provided in the angle formed by the disc and its flange to take the bolts 7 by which the detachable flange 5 is secured. The flange 5 may be formed as a ring or as the outer edge of a disc 6 supported by the hub or axLe or an extension thereof, and may have keyhole slots so as to engage the bolts 7 by a lateral and circumferential movement. In a modification, the fixed part of the rim may comprise spaced segments of the outer flange, which is completed by other detachable segments. Fig. 12 shows a modification in which the fixed rim part has wedge-shaped dovetailed projections 15 engaging correspondingly shaped holes 16 in the detachable rim part by lateral and circumferential movement. The parts are locked by a metal shield 8, as shown in Fig. 1, which has bosses pressed inwards to engage the wide ends of the holes 16 or pockets 9 to enclose the nuts 7<x> of the bolts 7. The disc 6 and shield 8 are dished outwardly so that the tightening of the holding- on nut 10 tends to stiffen the structure.
