Abstract

195,517. Jackson, W. J. Mellersh-, (Kemp Metal Auto Wheel Co., Ltd.). March 20, 1922. Spokes, securing ; compression - spoke wheels; spring wheels.- A wheel hub comprises two sections 1 of sheet metal with radially extending grooves 7 which form recesses for spokes 8 when secured together by bolts 4 and according to the invention the grooves are flanged at the hub periphery to provide a bearing surface for preventing rotation of the spokes. The spokes 8 consist of metal tubes tapering towards the felloe 12 and having an outer covering 10 formed by die casting but not extending the full length thereof. The outer covering 10 is formed with a wedge shaped enlargement 11 bearing on the hub flanges so preventing rotation and with an annular recess 15 in which is placed a resilient washer 16 to allow a slight play of the felloe 12. A demountable rim 18 is secured by clips. 19 engaging grooves in the rim.
