Abstract

215.255. Smith, D. H. Sept. 10, 1923. Spring wheels with sectional outer guided members.-Relates to resilient wheels of the kind having an inner rim 12, an outer sectional rim 13, and bolts 20 or the like connecting the two rims which also have springs 25 between them, and consists of connecting the outer nm sections to spoke members 17 sliding in hollow spoke sections 11 formed integrally with the hub 10. Helical metal springs 25 also surround the members 17. Elongated slots 19 in the outer rim sections allow circumferential relative motion between the sections and, by means of nuts 24, the bolts 20 may be drawn inwards temporarily to permit renewal of the solid or other tyre carried between the flanges 15 on the sectional rim. Each bolt 20 has a squared end portion 22 to prevent it turning in the slot 19.
