Abstract
160,537. Tasker, H. Dec. 20, 1919. Variable-speed friction gearing.-A disc D on the driving shaft E is engaged by a roller F sliding on a vertical shaft S which drives the differential shaft G of a motor vehicle. The driving-shaft E rotates in a housing H carried by links X, X<1>, which permit the disc D to be moved to and from the roller F, or the roller and the parts connected thereto may be moved to and from the disc. The roller is moved along its shaft by a lever L, L', a link L<2>, and an arm B sliding on a guide N, and the weight of the roller may be balanced by a weight W or by a spring pulley at Y.
