Abstract

150,868. Withers, J. S., (Perfecto Gear Differential Co.). July 8, 1919. Change-speed gearing.-Epicyclic gearing is arranged in conjunction with the differential gear on the divided driving-axle and comprises planet pinions 34 carried on the planet carrier 23 of the differential and meshing with a central pinion 31 on the driving-wheel 32 and with an internallytoothed annulus 37. The annulus 37 rides in bearings formed by flanges 38, 39 on the casing 5 and driving-wheel 32 respectively. A groove 55 is provided on the annulus engaged by shifting shoes by means of which it may be moved axially to engage toothed segments 50, 53 on the casing 5 and driving-wheel respectively.
