Abstract

154,098. Nelson, W. Jan. 15, 1920. Jet nozzles.-Liquid fuel under pressure enters a burner by a pipe a and flows through an annular passage x to a diaphragm d passing through channels d<1> leading to a chamber y, and finally issues as a spray from an orifice z in a nozzle n. The nozzle n is pressed into a cap c by a screw plug p<1> which bears against a collar l on a spindle s carrying the nozzle. On removing the plug p<1> the spindle and nozzle may be withdrawn and the diaphragm or nozzle may be changed. The spindle may be hollow to accommodate a rod s' which may be pressed against a spring r so that a needle e at its extremity may penetrate and clean the orifice z in the nozzle, the spring r serving to retract the rod and needle.
