Spray burners. - In a liquid-fuel burner of the type in which the fuel is atomized by a jet of steam generated in a flash-boiler heated by the burner, the axis of the fuel nozzle h intersects the axis of the steam nozzle c at an angle of about 85‹. The steam is generated in the burner shown by the passage of water through tubes a<1>, a<2>, a3, a<4> screwed at one end to the base of a hollow cappiece a. The tubes a<1>, a<3> are connected at their other end to a hollow cross-bar b through which they deliver steam to the centrally-arranged nozzle c so as to issue in the direction of the cap-piece a. The nozzle c may comprise a central orifice c<1> having an enlarged mouth c<2> and air-inlet holes c<3>. A screw plug d carrying a pricker needle d<2> may be fitted in the bar b for clearing the nozzle c. Specification 27362/03 is referred to.
