Abstract

1319272 Braking wound bobbins, securing formers to mandrels. MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER AG 12 Aug 1970 [12 Aug 1969] 38780/70 Heading D1J When a package 4 is fully wound on a mandrel 6 (Fig. 1), a piston 17 is operated to pivot arm 7, disengaging the package from a drive drum 3, and engaging a surface 12 of the mandrel with a brake shoe 16 on a pivoted lever 15. The frictional force produces a couple on the lever 15, preventing its pivoting until the package comes to rest, whereafter the lever 15 pivots to contact stop 14, actuating a a valve 10, and thus stopping supply of compressed air to the mandrel 6 (Fig. 2), releasing a bellows 8 which serves to retain the former 5 on the mandrel.
