Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide constant brake force, by fitting a helical spring to a rotary solenoid and connecting the free end of the spring with a brake shoe through an arm. CONSTITUTION:When a rotary solenoid 1A is excited while the brake is being applied, an arm 12 is turned counterclockwise against a helical spring 4A. A brake shoe 5 connected with an end of the arm 12 is released from a brake drum 6 as the arm 12 is turned. This makes the drum 6 free to turn. As the rotary solenoid 1A is then deenergized, the spring 4A produces a turning moment in the rotational direction and the shoe 5 is pressed to the drum 6 for braking. This mechanism can provide constant brake force and improve reliability of brake action if it is applied to a device eqipped a magnetic disc 9 and magnetic head 10.
