Abstract

1,108,646. Spindle brake. PALITEX PROJECT-CO. G.m.b.H. 29 Nov., 1965 14 Dec.. 1964], No. 50551/65. Heading DID. In a spinning or twisting m/c movement of a thread guide 15 (e.g. by being pivoted sideways to provide access to the spindle for doffing) causes the spindle to be braked and movement of the guide 15 to its normal position causes the brake to be released. In addition movement of the guide may cause drive to the take up spool 26 to be interrupted. As shown lateral movement of guide 15 operates a pneumatic or hydraulic valve 44 to actuate a piston-cylinder arrangement 33, 34 to lift spool 26 out of contact with the driving drum: a further piston-cylinder arraneement pivots the whole twisting spindle to lift wharve 7 out of contact with its driving belt; a brake may also be applied to the spindle. In Fig. 1 not shown movement of thread guide 15 brakes the spindle via a mechanical linkage. In Fig. 6 not shown, guide 15 may be lifted to close electrical contacts to activate a brake operating circuit. In a further form a Bowden cable links guide 15 and the spindle brake.
