Abstract

1285281 Braking supply packages NORTH AMERICAN ROCKWELL CORP 13 May 1970 [14 July 1969] 23200/70 Heading D1J [Also in Division B8] A yarn supply spool 20 in a core-covering machine is braked by a shoe 60 on a lever 61 acting on a rotatable spool support 42, the pressure applied by the lever varying in accordance with the package diameter, to provide substantially constant tension. A lever 90, pivoted at 87, bears against the package via a flexible p.t.f.e. strip 92, and by means of an arm 85 pivots a lever 72 about fulcrum 76. The lever 72 is connected to the brake lever 61 by a spring 66, the initial tension of which is adjustable by threaded rod 70. As the package size decreases, the brake pressure is reduced accordingly.
