Abstract

1,138,335. Crimping and winding yarns. ERNEST SCRAGG & SONS Ltd. 21 March, 1966 [31 March, 1965], No. 13614/65. Headings D1F and D1J. The yarn package is driven by a roller 12 and is supported by arms 17 pivoted about a fixed shaft 18. The gravitational loading of the package on the roller 12 is supplemented by spring means M extending between the arms 17 and a fixed point 16, the means M ensuring that the pressure between the package 11 and the roller 12 does not increase during the winding. As shown the means M comprises a C- shaped arm 15 pivoted at one end 15a and coupled at its other end 15b to the arm 17 by a spring 14. As the arms 17 swing upwardly, due to Increasing package diameter, the loading effect created by the arm 15 and spring 14 decreases. The apparatus is suitable for use in a double sided false twist crimping machine.
