Abstract

736,162. Winding yarn. SCRAGG & SONS, Ltd., E., and DAVENPORT, A. March 19, 1954 [March 5, 1953], No. 6100/53. Class 120(2). In an uptwisting machine, the cradle 7 supporting the winding-on drum and cable 8 is pivoted upon a rod 5 above and forwardly of the axis of the friction driving roller 6, the drum 8 making contact with the upper portion of the roller 6 forwardly of the axis of rotation of the cradle 7, the cradle having balancing means 11 positioned so as to tend to lift the package from the roller 6, said balancing means being adjustable to vary the contact pressure. To prevent side-play of the cradle and " bouncing " of the package, one boss 9 of the cradle is positioned longitudinally of the rod 5 by a collar thereon, the other boss 9 being frictionally pressed by a spring compressed against it and an adjustable collar on the rod 5.
