682,674. Unwinding yarn from spinning or doubling tubes or bobbins. MASCHINENFABRIK SCHWEITER AKT.-GES. May 27, 1949 [July 31, 1948], No. 14221/49. Class 120(ii) A device for interrupting the unwinding of spinning or doubling tubes or bobbins while a few turns of yarn remain on them comprises feelers, one 9b bearing on the uncovered portion of the bobbin and the other 13b on the coils, the feeler 13b being contacted by a stop 17 mounted on a lever 16 which releases, in a predetermined position, mechanism to shift the practically unwound bobbin from the winding position. The amount of yarn remaining on each bobbin is the same irrespective of any differences in bobbin diameter, this being achieved by mounting the feeler 9b on a pivot 8 on the machine bed and the feeler 13b on a pivot 12 carried by the feeler 9a. The feelers are biassed towards the bobbin by springs 10, 13a. The lever 16 contacts an adjustable knife-edge 26 on an arm 21 while the bobbin is unwinding, the arm 21 being secured on a shaft 5 controlling the movement of the bobbins. The arm 21 is depressed at intervals by a cam 32 to permit the stop 17 to freely follow the feeler 13b, the movement of which finally enables the lever 16 to swing.clear of the knife edge 26 when a spring 22 raises the arm 21 to actuate the bobbin shifting mechanism (not shown).
